Full Service Wedding & Event Design

Sugokuii Events is a full-service event & wedding planning and design production company, founded by New York born Diana M. Sorensen. Sorensen is a seasoned event designer and producer with a degree in International Marketing and Art History, who previously held positions in PR/Event and Product Placement for luxury brands such as Hugo Boss, Escada, Kartell and Georg Jensen. Her passion for event design and scenography, food & beverage development and detailed project management has led her to developing a contemporary f&b bar concept in Miami, fashion show productions for luxury brands in New York and London, a Nordic inspired restaurant concept in Copenhagen, an upscale Italian gelateria chain in Europe, retrospective in Basel and various other scenographic consultancies and luxury events in numerous cities from Dubai to Buenos Aires.

A native New Yorker, Diana was raised in Manhattan, Copenhagen and Rome, speaking all three languages — and has also lived in Boston, Miami, San Francisco, London and resides part of the year in Capri, Italy.

Couture Weddings & Events

Sorensen plans and designs each and every couture wedding & event for each of her clients with a dedicated special events team, from creating customized invitations to the complete design and feel of the celebration — transforming her clients initial ideas and event objectives into functional theatrical scenery. Her innovative approach has led publications such as Japanese Vogue, Marie Claire, Icon, LA Confidential among others to recognize her as a rising star of luxury event and couture wedding planning. In fact, a Japanese publication was one of the first to review one of her events as Sugoku-ii (=Super cool, in Japanese).

Sugokuii Events is currently particularly in demand for designing weddings in Italy – and Sorensen's love and knowledge of Italy, combined with her 14+ years experience as international event director and current partial residency in Capri during summer, has now made her a sought after wedding planner in Italy and on the beautiful island of Capri, where she designs a few selective weddings per year.

Location Scouting

Capri is an island full of unique settings and locations, which Sugokuii Events scouts for, by finding the ideal venue that express's the client's individual style. Therefore, giving us the opportunity to know a bit about you as individuals is somewhat crucial in choosing a venue and reflecting your personality at your wedding.

The Secret Garden

An old-fashioned wedding ceremony in Capri might commence by having the bride-to-be descending down an outdoor baroque staircase amongst hundred year old pine trees in a lushly landscaped courtyard, which leads to a wrought iron gazebo where the groom would be waiting in the “secret garden” of an ancient Caprese villa. Afterwards, your guests might be sipping on vintage Trento DOC in old fashion coupe glasses garnished with lavender sprigs, served from a custom designed Spumanteria, before finding their escort cards attached to antique keys, which lead to the unlocking of the door of the adjoining courtyard for the dinner reception.

A Vintage Styled Wedding

A vintage inspired, symbolic wedding might take place at sunset, at a dramatic cliff side location in a beautiful flower filled park, which your guests might find by following the route of a hand drawn vintage map of the local area. Upon arrival, guests might quench their thirst on fruit flavored granitas served in customized paper cones at a vintage styled granita stand.

After the ceremony, all guests might be accompanied by the festive Scialapopolo to the vintage decorated wedding reception taking place on a panoramic roof-top of a beautiful Caprese hotel. Here, your guests could be greeted by servers in white jackets serving silver trays of Mint-Limoncello cocktails, whilst listening to the music of old-school Italian classics played on a vintage Italian phonograph in front of a screen showing clippings of old black and white footage of Italian film classics.

Dinner might take place in a custom designed, vintage styled antique laced tent, decorated with dark brown, rough-hewn wooden tables topped with custom made cream colored lace tablecloths, delicate linen napkins with hand embroidered initials also functioning as favors, antique silver cutlery, wrought iron vintage chandeliers and the perimeter draped with ivory chiffon panels.

After dinner, a variety of small, cream colored tents and mini cabanas would offer a selection of Italian entertainment such as a makeshift vintage black & white photo booth, hand drawn caricature portraits, Italian confetti & vintage candy bar, Italian cigar roller, Sicilian tarot readings, Limoncello bar and more, including dancing and singing to the old-school style music of an Italian Maestro piano entertainer.

A Rustic Wedding

A rustic inspired wedding, could take place at the highest perch of a beautiful viewpoint in Anacapri, which lies amidst vineyards and ancient woodland overlooking the sea of Ischia. Your guests could be picked up by private transportation and driven through maze-like, ancient narrow alleys, until they reach a beautiful lane that leads to a spectacular wedding platform overlooking the sea, which has been decorated with shades of yellow and purple wild flowers for the ceremony. Afterwards, guests will follow a path of lanterns that leads to an outdoor, vintage styled, honey & wheat colored rustic setting overlooking rows of vineyards and features long brown wooden benches and tables topped with terracotta pitchers of sunflowers, wooden chargers and selection of handpicked herbs and olive oils, as well as homemade menus attached to rough tree bark.

Dinner might be Campania inspired; commencing with wooden platters filled with a selection of bruschette with San Marzano tomatoes, locally made fior di latte or homemade burrata, followed by ceramic bowls filled with spaghetti from Gragnano. Afterwards, an Italian style grill will be set up, grilling a variety of Italian specialties, from galletto al mattone to grilled fennel sausages, to spit roasted porchetta or grilled ribs Italian style and more, accompanied by grilled vegetables or scarole stufate with Gaeta olives, raisins and pinenuts and paired with locally produced, organic wine.

After dinner, a rustic styled formaggeria might be set up serving a wide selection of local cheeses and choice parmigiano wheels, including a homemade liqueurs bar serving homemade Rosolio, Limoncello or Nociello. Later in the evening, your guests might be escorted back to the panoramic viewpoint, which has been transformed into a country chic dance floor, where they will be met by the music of a 5 piece live band playing all-time Italian and international classics, whilst dancing under the stars, overlooking the sea.

Before going home, your guests might be treated to cones filled with homemade fried and salty Neapolitan style fritelle from a makeshift friggitorio and pint-size local wedding favors to take home.

Art Nouveau Inspired Reception

An Art Nouveau inspired wedding might take place on the terrace of a beautiful Belle Époque mansion, once belonging to an infamous aristocrat, where your guests will keep cool with elaborate, hand embroidered fans also serving as favors and nibble on Italian caviar at a Calvisius caviar bar and champagneria serving a selection of vintage champagnes. After the ceremony, guests might be treated to a dancing & dolci evening – in a jewel inspired, updated version of a 21st century, Art Nouveau inspired wedding.

Guests might be treated to an antique copper Termozona espresso bar station managed by an experienced barista from one of the oldest cafes in Napoli, accompanied by a sumptuous Caprese-Neapolitan-Sicilian dessert bar, overflowing with bite-size mini cakes, local torts and pastries, regional candies and delicacies. A contemporary version of salon music redone might have your guests dancing on the marbled floors of the salons or pause to view a live cabaret style performance in the infamous make-shift “opium room” in the basement. Your stylized wedding cake might be inspired by the elaborate jewellery from the Belle Époque era – or we may arrange for your favorite wedding cake specialist from New York, L.A. or London to fly in your customized wedding cake to Capri.

Sugokuii Events also plans 4 day wedding celebrations...that might include a custom planned “Capri Itinerary” consisting of fun filled daily activities and local sightseeing, visits to local craftsmen and special lunches or dinners in various venues planned for all your family and friends – giving them the opportunity to combine a mini vacation in Capri with a joyous occasion, whilst experiencing the best of what Capri has to offer in only a few days.

Sugokuii will function as your guest's personal Capri concierge, being at your guest's disposal from the 1st day your guests receive their wedding invitation. Our Capri concierge service consists of a dedicated special events team to meet you and your guests every need. Services might include, amongst others things, planning hotel accommodation for all attending guests according to budget, location and design, and a customized Capri destination wedding website. Customized, Welcome-to-Capri gift baskets might be placed in all hotel rooms featuring mini size locally produced delicacies, gelato voucher coupons, gift certificates for made-to-order luxury goods in Napoli and custom designed travel guides with your – or our, suggestions for dining and shopping in Capri.

4 Day celebrations

A 4 day celebration might start on a Thursday evening with a festive “aperitivi e sfizi” soiree on a beautiful outdoor terrace filled with bougainvillea overlooking Capri, with old-school Italian cocktails prepared by the charming local bartender who previously prepared drinks for Sophia Loren and Brigitte Bardot — and freshly squeezes and blends all his lemon, watermelon and wild strawberry fruit cocktails. Music might be premixed for the occasion using contemporary lounge music mixed with Fellini-esque classics.

Friday might start with the best way to be introduced to the island; a customized, private boat trip for all your guests around Capri with pit-stops for viewing and swimming through the many beautiful caves and ending with an outdoor lunch for spaghetti and zucchini in Nerano. Rehearsal dinner might take place Friday night at a chic, Mediterranean cliff-side seafood restaurant known for their sumptuous “crudo bar”, where guests sit in stylish beach inspired ambiance, designed with a crisp-white and aqua-blue theme lit up by dozens of hurricane lanterns. Dinner might be interrupted by the music of a live Italian steel band, setting a lively tone for the rest of the evening. After dinner, guests might dance outside, under the stars, to a Milanese DJ spinning contemporary music and order creative Bellini's at a customized Bellini bar, offering a variety of Prosecco mixed with a selection of fresh colorful purees of fresh peaches, Italian plums or raspberries.

Italian Inspired Brunch

Sunday, your guests might be invited to a creative Italian inspired brunch where tables might overflow with homemade brioche, cornetti, fazzoletti, girelle, bomboloni, crespelle or made-to-order frittatas, as well as freshly squeezed spremutas made with Caprese lemons and oranges or a signature Biancosarti mixed Mimosa, while enjoying the music of a live Sicilian jazz orchestra flown in for the occasion.

We team with the best caterers and restaurateurs Capri and Campania has to offer, that provide both creative, traditional or local Caprese/Neapolitan/Campania inspired cuisine as well as always striving to take it one step further by tracking down the smallest details to customize your catering; e.g. finding the most experienced pizzaiolo and fornaio who may set up an original Neapolitan mini pizza station as a midnight snack for your guests, or flying in your wedding cake specialist from New York, London or LA.

We also personally hand-pick and recruit all service and entertainment staff for each individual event and wedding, determining each person's actual professional experience, appearance, personality and relevance to the particular event, as well as having pre special training for each individual event or wedding.

Sugokuii Events cooperates with a selection of wedding invitation specialists – ranging from old school letterpressed in Napoli to handmade paper from Amalfi to vintage emblems designed in Paris as well as discerning floral design from the most respected florist designer and artisan shop in Capri.

We strive to cater to the smallest detail that best reflects the couple and makes a noticeable difference between an ordinary wedding and a personalized, custom designed Sugokuii wedding.

Sugokuii Events is available for private consultations during the spring & summer months in Capri and by e-mail and phone correspondence the rest of the year. We are also able, in certain instances, to travel to your preferred residence during the autumn-winter months, for private or follow-up consultations.
